Miep Gies
- Her real name was Hermine Santroudschitz, Miep was a nickname given by her new family, "Miep" is a term of affection in Dutch.
- She denied membership to one of the Nazi Girls' Club which was remembered by Nazi officials.
- When she agreed it was true that she refused to join the Nazi Girls' Club, her passport was marked with a black "X" which made it unusable, and she was forced to move back to Vienna unless she married a Dutch Citizen.
- She was finally able to marry Jan Gies on July 16, 1941 after overcoming many obstacles related to her passport and citizenship.
- Housed Otto Frank after he'd lost his family from the war.
- Gies kept Anne Frank's diary, which she had for a while but could not bring herself to read, and gave it to Otto, Anne's father.
